Wow, I haven't written any ADMM forever! Please, tell me what you think. I wrote this a while ago and just now found it. So, I revised it and here it is....
Through Darkness, There Is Light
“You three, back to your houses!” Minerva McGonagall had called down the corridor to a group of young students. This was probably the hundredth time this night she had caught students out after curfew, as if they didn’t realize the danger lurking about.
She cringed just thinking about it and wondered, again, where Albus was. Minerva knew he was on another ‘trip’, as he called him. It didn’t make her worry any less no matter what he called it. She had no clue where her husband was running off to in the middle of the night and tonight was even worse; Harry had gone with him. But what destroyed her even more than knowing a student was in danger, was the fact that Albus wouldn’t tell her anything about his plan. He only pushed her away and Minerva couldn’t stand it.
The Professor looked up at the dark sky. She felt something bad was going to happen tonight, but shook the feeling off and walked down the corridor, heading to her rooms. Out of the corner of her eye, Minerva noticed two students running outside.
“Now what?” She groaned and left in the two students’ direction. As she made it outside, Minerva noticed at the least twenty students standing around in a circle. She also realized a few professors there. They were all dead silent and huddled together, which puzzled her greatly.
“Every one, please, back to your dormitories!” She shouted for everyone to hear and made her way through the crowd. “It is not safe to be out after curfew!”
Nobody budged. They ignored her and stared at something on the ground.
“What is this about?” She made it to the front and looked at the students, then followed their eyes to the ground. Her entire world stopped as her eyes came upon the one thing that she dreaded the most in this world; her dear husband lying dead before her.
“Albus.” She whispered in the same tone she used to wake him up at night. Minerva couldn’t care less about who did this, or why, she only wanted him back and thought for one moment, just one moment this could be a dream and she’ll wake up soon, back in her husband’s arms. It didn’t happen. The more she stared at the lifeless body, the more Minerva felt her own body starting to break down. She turned to see Harry next to her and saw the worry in his eyes. Minerva wanted to say something to him, but she wasn’t able to open her mouth. Tears formed in her eyes not matter how hard she tried to hold them back.
Harry looked up in the sky and Minerva followed his eyes. There, she saw the Dark Mark above them. Although her body felt weak and stiff, Minerva couldn’t allow her husband to be treated like another one of Voldemort’s victims. Looking at her loved one, she raised her arm, wand in hand, and let a silver light form from the tip of her wand. The light rose up into the sky, clearing away a patch of the dark clouds.
The children and professors saw this and followed her example. The dark clouds slowly disappeared and the warm light broke through, shining down on all of them; on Albus.
Minerva knew she would have to be strong and take over Albus’ position for the war that was not over yet. But, for just one moment, she let tears slide down her cheeks as the warm light beamed down upon all of them.
