Set during just after Lord Voldemort’s first fall
(Note: this takes part just after the Longbottoms are tortured. The era this take place is about 15 years before the HBP movie. In the movie, the year looks like todays-the sophisticated buildings and technology and the clothes; so that would make the movie around 2009; that would make this story take place in 1994. Just want to change things up a bit; I hope you don’t mind.) I don't own any of the Harry Potter characters, so don't sue me!

Summary: the order must find and arrest a death eater: Bellatrix Lestrange. Decidedly, Albus and Minerva go undercover to find her and bring her to justice for her crimes; however, there are some unexpected events that happen-a little humour, action and a lot of admm.

1. A very dangerous mission

“Why in Merlin’s name did you leave?” Alastor shouted as medic witches and wizards surrounded the body. She could hear several shouts and screaming.

“He’s lost a lot of blood, and not stabilizing, we need to take him St. Mungos right now” some medic witch said. Minerva could only watch as they took Albus away.

*flash back*
The order had me for the last time in an old abandoned house on a stormy night to discuss a very important matter. The order’s numbers had gone down drastically since the beginning of the war, the potters had been murdered the night of Voldemort’s fall and the Longbottom’s had been severely been injured to the point of insanity. Many others had died too but the order remained strong; they had even found some new recruits.

“Welcome everyone, I hope you didn’t have too much trouble getting here but this was the only place we could find to meet in a safe place. I know that most of us are still shocked about the Longbottoms but we must carry on our work. Now Alastor will explain the reasoning of this meeting”

“Thank you Albus. Now, the ministry has requested some help in capturing Bellatrix Lestrange. They know that she is hiding amongst the muggle population in London. This is where we come in. two of the order will go undercover to find her where she hiding, the others will stay alert for any signs of trouble and to help with the arrest if there are any issues. The ministry has also stated that no magic be used in while tracking her, but of course we can use it for the arrest-this is why the mission is dangerous because she will use anything to keep from being imprisoned”

“Alright to carry on, now I know all of you have signed up; Alastor and I have reviewed your reasons to do this mission and have considered your state and have decided.”
“Albus and Minerva will go undercover”

*Albus’s office*
“So what’s the plan, how are we going to lure her out? Did you put any thought into this? Do you know we’re risking our lives and the lives of innocent muggles?” Minerva was pacing back and forth very quickly around Albus’s office.
It was starting to make him fidgety watching her pace to and fro.

“But of course, you understood what Alastor said, we disguise as muggles and track her, if we need any help at all, the rest of the order will be right there in a jiffy” countered Albus, who was now much more comfortable after minerva had stopped pacing.

“Jiffy? What is that supposed to mean?”

“Well dear it means quickly I believe, I over-“he was cut off by a death glare.

“Might I ask why you are so upset this evening my dear Minerva?”

“The reason is that I’m a little afraid and emotional. I’m scared that she is going to get away again and she’ll keep doing horrible things”

“I understand but Minerva we must however have faith in ourselves, and besides you are more than capable of doing this yourself, I’m just here to cause trouble.’” Albus said reassuringly.

As they walked down the corridor to go meet Severus, Albus jokingly added that they were going to catch Bellatrix only she wasn't going to distracted by catnip or mice. She unexpected punched him in the arm.
“Ow!” Albus said a little too loudly; several students stared wondering what could have caused the headmaster to receive such a blow from the transfiguring teacher.

Severus snape was making a fuss about all the preparation he had to do to get the two professors ready.

“Well if it is such a trouble to you, I am sure we do this ourselves” Minerva stated impatiently.

“No I am the potions master, I have the correct skill level to make this; we wouldn’t want any cat hair in it. Any minor mistakes and you two could just burst into flames. Now why did the order have picked the worst people to try to disguise. Compared to the average muggle, you both look as if you were taken out from a book! Anyone else in the order could have passed without the aid-”

“Severus.” Albus interrupted with a slight impatience in his voice.

“Yes, well anyways I will create a potion that will make you both look younger but still recognizable so there is no confusion of who’s who. Hopefully Bellatrix will not see much of a resemblance. I’ll make sure Minerva’s has some catnip in it”
Severus added as Albus and Minerva exited.

“We are supposed to stop by the ministry, Alastor wanted to give us few pointers on muggle things” Minerva said.

*At the ministry at the end of the meeting*

“Remember, constant vigilance!” Moody strongly stated.

“Sometimes I wonder if he is really mad” pondered Minerva

2. Trouble
Minerva arrived at his office at seven am sharp like he said. She knocked.

“Enter, oh good, right on time as always, did you bring the potion Severus made and your luggage?”

“Yes” she answered and summoned her luggage and brought out two vials.

They drank the potion and instantly they looked younger.
Minerva’s face had quite a few less wrinkles and her hair looked more shiny and beautiful. Albus’s beard had shortened there was barely an inch around and his hair was much shorter.

“Don’t forget the rings, and to change into muggle clothes” Minerva stated.

The rings were for their disguise, they were to be a couple on their 35th anniversary. Minerva wore some black dress pants with an emerald sweater; Albus was dressed in a blue dress shirt with black dress pants also.

“You look very nice Minerva”

“And you don’t look too bad yourself”.

“Well then are you ready?

“Yes and Alastor gave me a thing so we can dial 119 if we’re in trouble. I should thank Severus for not making us burst into flames” Minerva replied with a slight grin and while holding up the thing which was a cell phone and so they apprarated to their hotel.

“Check-in sir?” asked the hotel employee.

“Ah yes, I believe it is under Dumbledore” replied Albus.

The man gave him a strange look of o.k. my day just got that much weirder but eventually replied:

“Yes you have booked room 2366 for 6 nights with two full sized beds. Here’s your key card and do you need help with your luggage?”

“Thank you” answered Minerva. A man emerged and put the luggage onto a trolley and disappeared.

“The elevator is just down the hall and to the left and the restaurant is one the 6th floor. Enjoy your stay and happy anniversary” the clerk finished.

They walked down the hall together and Albus reminded Minerva that they needed to blend in so she put her arm in his.
//note: Albus is described as when he looked during the sixth movie when he visited Tom. Just some things I added: 2366 stands for admm according to the telephone. 119 is 911 backwards//

They freshened up and then headed back to the lobby to go get the car from the valet and then walked to pizza diner. When they were about to leave, a heavily built man walked into the restaurant. Some people tried to leave, but the man brought out a gun and shot at the ceiling unleashing many terrified screams. The man then started to tell of his abusive childhood, his depressing life, and the numerous times he came to the pizza parlour to escape his life. He finished with the sentence:
“I have bottling up my anger and depression for so long that now I can’t escape it, I must unleash it.”
There were now police cars coming, the sirens getting closer and then the tires screeching to a halt. The man looked at the police men who were now about to enter the restaurant, lifted the gun but before he could pull the trigger, he was shot in the chest. As Albus walked forward to check for a pulse; nothing. The man was dead.

“Sir, I am going to ask you to slowly step away from the body!” said a cop. Albus obeyed. Another cop then came around Albus to check the body.

“I checked already, he’s dead, I think he was shot through the heart” Albus said before the police man could check for the pulse.

“You two need to come down town with me so that we can ask you some questions and get a statement” the first cop stated.
*in an interrogation room*

“My name is detective Harker and this is my partner sergeant Day. Now as I have come to understand that the dead man came into the parlor and drew out a gun, correct?”

“Yes” replied Minerva nervously.

“Right, and then this man began shooting at the ceiling to prevent anyone from leaving correct?” asked Sergeant Day.

“Yes, he was depressed however, he told us his life story, and how he couldn’t go on” answered Albus.

“Hmm, suicide by cop” stated Detective Harker.

“What’s that” asked Minerva.

“It means that he planned on getting killed, that’s why he raised his weapon when the police arrived, so that he'd be shot” replied Sergeant Day.

“Well thank you for your statement, you are free to leave” finished Detective Harker.

Once outside, they started to walk back to the hotel.
“That was awful. His life must have been so terrible” Minerva said suddenly.

“Indeed, but I think his true depression came from the lack of communication in his life, it seemed that no one spoke to him about it and that’s why he made us all listen to him” Albus said heavily.

Minerva started to cry a little and Albus held her close. She felt the roughness of his beard but stayed because she felt safe.
They arrived at the hotel sleepy; they had gotten lost trying to figure out the correct way to get back to hotel. Once in the room they quickly changed to sleep wear and were soon fast asleep, well that’s what they both thought.

Minerva was constantly trying to figure out why she had enjoyed being dragged into this mission and why she had to spend half the night in a cold police department. Was it because she wanted adventure or was it because she wanted to get revenge? Though these were partly the reason, the main reason was that she was going to be with one particular person. Albus. She was very good friends with him but with recent events, she found that she liked him more than a friend. She loved the way his eyes twinkled and she loved his childish like personality but also how he calm people and make them feel that everything was going to be alright even if it wasn’t. She thought about that night and how he had held he so close. She felt safer and happier while in his arms.

Meanwhile Albus was contemplating matters in his head too. He had grown a liking for Minerva ever since she started teaching, every day, he loved her just a little more. Today, he had made up his mind. He loved the way she smiled and would sometimes hit him when he got carried away. He loved her hair, although he did not get to see it down that often but still he loved it. He also found it enjoyable to watch her temper go up or when she had to deal an interrupting student, she looked so beautiful. He was willing to risk anything to keep Minerva protected and happy; that night, he took the liberty to hold her close to help relieve some of the shock and sadness. He loved her face and how it came to have bits of hair strands on it when she pulled away from him. He cherished that moment.

3. Love
Bellatrix had found out she was being followed from a death eater who worked in the ministry. She didn’t know who; she decided to find out and then try to eliminate them before they had a chance to call for support and arrest her. She left some traps.

Over the course of 3 days Minerva and Albus had found some clues to where Bellatrix was. They had found out that she rented an apartment near the Thames. Pretending to be police officers, they managed to get into her apartment. While looking around they found wizarding newspaper clippings about Lord Voldemort and a daily planner.

“Albus come over here, there is a planner with her schedule in it, it’s got all of the things she’d done since the night of Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named’s disappearance.”

“Hmmm, this seems too obvious, why would she leave something for us to find that would lead us straight to her. It’s almost like she knows we’re looking for her. It could be a trap.”

“It does seem strange, but this is the only lead we have on her, so I think we should follow it. Besides, The Order will help us if we’re in a tight situation” Minerva said impatiently.

“Look at this, she’s planned out today as well” Albus said
August 28th, 1994:
8 am: Meet with Lucius
1 pm: Lunch out
3pm: Pick new place to hide
5pm: Appointment at Castle Bar
8pm: Start packing

“Well it’s about 3:30pm now, so it’s a little late to find her now, but we can try to get her at the bar. Let’s go have a walk and share the information with the rest of The Order” suggested Albus.

Minerva called Moody to let them know that they would be at Castle Bar around 5 that night to catch Bellatrix. They then strolled around a park and sat down a bench watching people.

“Albus, there’s something I need to tell you” Minerva said quietly and nervously

“Yes”

“These past few days, I felt that I-we’ve gotten so much closer and I just wanted to say that I love you”

“I love you too. I’ve been feeling the same way. All these years we’ve been together, I always liked you, but that night when I held you close, I knew it. I love you” Albus whispered as they drew in for another passionate kiss.

As people walked by, they noticed the elderly couple kissing. Some thought it was cute, some didn’t.
Albus and Minerva continued to walk around the park holding hands and occasionally sharing kisses with each other. 4:30 came very quickly as Albus looked down at his watch.

“We’d better get going dear” He said.

“Yes. I’ll ask someone where it is” Minerva said.

“Excuse me, but where is Castle Bar?” Minerva inquired to a youthful lady.

“Oh, it’s about a Kilometre south of here” the lady replied.

//Hope this wasn't too rushed but if it is, I sort of had to move the story along so that it wouldn't end up to be 13 chapters long; cause seriously I could write for a very long time //

4. Deception

As they entered the bar Albus immediately noticed Bellatrix; she was sitting alone but was obviously not waiting for something, she was sharpening some sort of weapon. He assessed the situation and concluded that it was going to end badly, many lives were at stake. Albus and Minerva sat down at the bar, she ordered gin on rocks and he ordered brandy.

“Minerva, I need to tell you something and you’re not going to like me” Albus said.

“What, there’s nothing that could make me not love any less” she replied sweetly.

The drinks arrived.

“I’m sorry, but earlier, I was caught in the moment, the thing that happened between us, it wasn’t real. I know that it was extremely cruel of me to manipulate your feelings but, I don’t love you. I telling this to you now to prevent further pain in the road to come” he finished.

Minerva was shocked, at first she didn’t believe it, but she looked in his eyes and saw that was in fact telling the truth. In Minerva’s life, she had dealt with few break-ups, but she always broke it up. She never experienced taking rejection of someone who she truly loved. Being Scottish, she had some of that temper. She felt an angry burning erupting inside of her. She could not believe it, she really loved this man but he deceived her into thinking he loved her back. She slapped him on his face leaving a bright red mark on his left cheek and then chucked her drink in his face.

While busying himself with getting the alcohol off his face, Minerva stormed out of the bar and ran. She ran and covered her face so that no one could see the stream of tears coming down; she stopped and entered the nearest public washroom before crying out loud.

By himself, Albus was crushed. He didn’t want to pretend to not like her and he felt so bad that he hurt her feelings but he had to focus on the mission. If Minerva was not out of the bar she may had gotten hurt while catching Bellatrix. He knew she was capable but he did not want to take a chance with that, Bellatrix could have something up her sleeve. He reached for his wand but then he realised that he left it back at the castle because the ministry had ordered no magic to be used while following her.

He got up to go to the washroom to wipe the rest of Minerva’s drink off but then he felt a peircing pain across his abdomen. Sure he had his share of cuts and injuries during duelling but this was different. He looked down. His shirt had a slice through it and he was bleeding heavily. He covered it with his left hand to try to stop the bleeding, “like this is going to slow the bleeding” he thought. As he walked, he nearly collapsed on a man.

“Hey grandpa, had one too many huh? Gotta control your liquor better” the man said as he helped Albus back upright. The man then noticed the blood.

“Whoa, you need to see a hospital” he added as he grabbed his cell phone but before he had the chance to dial 911 the man was sent flying across the room and skidded next to a wall.
People screamed. People panicked. A woman’s high pitched cackle echoed through the room and then there was silence. Albus turned to her.

“Hello again Bellatrix, it’s good to see you here. How are you doing” he said while gripping his wound.

“Perfectly fine, I see you have a bit of a cut. Shame that man had to be injured, but after I’m done with you, I’ll make sure he doesn’t endure the pain long. And to all of you people, after tonight, the lucky ones will only know one thing. The most powerful wizard of all time will return and he will make sure all of you muggles are put in your place” she finished with a laugh.

Many people thought she was absolutely mental, but no one thought about it too long, obviously this woman was dangerous, so they did not do anything but listen.

“If any of you try to contact any authorities or help in any way, I will leave you in terrible pain for a long time and then kill you, if you do not believe watch what I do to this foolish old man”.

5. Deceiving the Deceiver

Albus was wondering why he wasn’t dead yet; then he figured that Bellatrix must have put something on the weapon to make his blood flow slower but make the wound more unbearable. He attempted to do some wand less magic but he was so tired; it was a constant fight to keep from collapsing from the pain. He was then thrust backward into the liquor cabinet and fell to the ground hard on his side as the cabinet windows shattered. Glass came from above him and a piece grazed his left arm.
A young lady rushed to him but just as she was about to kneel down to help, she was also thrust through the entrance and landed on the sidewalk outside.

Minerva stopped weeping; she came out of the washroom stall and walked out onto the street. She was going to go back and express her feelings toward Albus after they had arrested Bellatrix. As she neared, she noticed the young lady’s body and tried to carry her around the corner. Minerva then gave her a potion that would wake her up. The lady’s eyes fluttered as her vision slowly came into focus; she tried to sit up but Minerva prevented her.

“Don't worry, I won't hurt you; I just want to know happened. Stay still, you'll feel sick but from what I just gave you, you should feel okay” Minerva said gently.

The woman was terribly confused and shocked and having an old lady peering over her wasn't helping. After sometime after heavy breathing, the lady decided to tell Minerva what happened, she figured that it wouldn't hurt and maybe this woman could help her.
“There was this crazy woman who appeared and she said that no one must not do anything to help the man otherwise she would kill us. I thought it was all a dream, how could have she sent both men hurtling through the air, and how did she throw me out here? I can’t believe this is happening” the lady said shakily.

“Tell me of the man” Minerva said.

“Well the first one was young and he looked as if he worked out a lot but then he reached for his cell phone and he sent hurtling through the air, I don’t know if he’s conscious yet” she answered.

“And what of the other one” Minerva said softly. She didn't really want to think about the fact that Albus could have been hurt even though she was still upset with him.

“He was older and he looked as if he could have been a grandpa. He was clutching his stomach like it really hurt; after he was thrown through the air and landed I rushed to him to try to help. I saw the blood then, he had a huge cut along his mid abdomen, and the last thing I remember is flying through the air” she finished quietly.

“I’m going to call some people and they are going to help you, do not be afraid, I’ll have them introduce themselves so that you know who they are. They may put you to sleep, but I promise afterwards, you will be back to normal life without pain or recollection of this night” Minerva said.

“Why must I not remember about tonight” the lady asked.

“It’s best if you don’t, your life will be safer and less strange” answered Minerva.

As Minerva walked away, she felt her heart sank. She now knew that Albus had been seriously injured and there wasn't anyone to help. Minerva felt so guilty, what if she stayed? Would things have turned out differently? Maybe right now they would going over the mission and how much fun they had. But now, it wasn't going to happen, Albus was probably going to die. She dialed for help, but she had a strong feeling that everything was not going to be okay and it was all her fault.

Albus tried to get back up but he felt so much pain that he could only get part of his upper body off the ground before his was kicked onto his back.

“So, one of the most respectable wizards is now at my feet at the verge of death. How does it feel like? I suppose you’re helpless without use of magic. Yes I know someone has been following me, that is why I had that fake appointment written in the fake day planner. I knew who was following me as soon as they entered this building, I could sense it. Sensing was something my master taught me before he fell from power. But now I can take my revenge on the leader of the organization who opposed the Dark Lord” Bellatrix said with disturbing amusement in her voice.

She raised her wand and pointed it at Albus’s chest, then sent a spell that broke a few of his ribs.
Albus had certainly never felt this amount of pain before. He couldn’t breathe without the taste of blood in his mouth. He gripped his chest as he wriggled in pain. She sent another spell at him causing a shout of pain to escape his mouth.
Many people were trying to figure out how to stop this crazy dangerous person, but every time a person tried to do something, Bellatrix would send them hurtling through the air or make them collapse in total pain.

“Well I think I’ve had my share of fun with you Professor Dumbledore” she said as she raised her wand for the killing curse.

Just moments before she could say the curse, she was stunned. Alastor came into view. A woman fainted from the sudden shock of seeing a man with a whizzing eyeball enter the premise.

“I will not harm any of you, there are some medical people to help and cure you. Do not be afraid of them. They are here to help you” He shouted.
Of course there was panic.

“Dumb muggles” he whispered. “Remus get over here and calm these people down before they hurt themselves and tell the medical unit to get their butts over here fast, Albus is severely injured. Remus, one last thing, make sure their memories are changed, we don't want anyone to remember tonight” he shouted over the mass of panic.

Minerva ran to Albus’s side, she wept not just because the love of her life was dying but because he had chosen to get her out of here so that she wouldn’t get hurt. She lifted his head as his eyelids opened; she could have sworn she saw a twinkle in his eyes but she wasn’t positive because medic witches and wizards were now trying to get Albus’s body on a gurney.

“I’m sorry you’re going to have to move” one of the medic witches said.

Minerva found Alastor outside.

“Why in Merlin’s name did you leave” Alastor shouted as medic witches and wizards surrounded the body. She could hear several shouts and screaming.

“He’s lost a lot of blood, and not stabilizing, we need to take him St. Mungos right now” some medic witch said. Minerva could only watch as they took Albus away.

“I don’t know, I was angry and I left” Minerva whispered.

6. Trial

Albus was transported to St. Mungos where he had finally came woke up from unconsciousness. Minerva had constantly visited him and sometimes she slept over night just to be with him. She would often have one hand in his so that when he woke up she would know.

He gripped her fingers as he slowly woke up.

“Minerva” he whispered and tried to continue, but Minerva stopped him and told him to go back to sleep and to tell her later when he had more energy.

The next day, Albus was sitting up in his bed and talking to Minerva.

“I’m sorry if I caused you pain, but you must understand that there was no way out of that situation where there was even the slightest possible chance of not one of us getting injured. I didn’t want it to be you. What I said in the bar was a lie; I only said it to get you away from there before anything happened. I love you, and I am not lying” he finished.

“I know, I can tell it in your eyes, they tell the truth except at the bar. Oh Albus, I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have left even if you wanted me to. I was so shocked; I didn’t know what to do. But I’m happy that you’re going to make full recovery” she said.

“Minerva, tell the students at the welcoming feast, that I missed giving the speech but will be back shortly” he stated.

“I won’t have to, you’ll be there, the doctors said you’d be fine by then” Minerva managed to say before they embraced and kissed.

A week later, Albus was released from St. Mungos. He was given some pain relief potion to ease the pain and was also given some bone fixing potion as well that he had to take every day for two weeks to help heal his ribs. They bandaged his wound on his abdomen and suggested that he apply a new one every other day. Though still sore, he managed to give his speech at the opening feast.

There was only one thing to do, attend Bellatrix’s trial. They arrived at the ministry, early in September to witness the prosecution of Bellatrix.

“Ms. Lestrange, you have been charged with the torture of Frank and Alice Longbottom, and the attempted murder of Albus Dumbledore, as well as injuring innocent muggles. How do you plead” asked Mr. Crouch.

“Guilty” she replied with amusement in her voice. “The Dark Lord will be back and he will release me and bring wrath to your pitiful little world” she cackled.

“It is done; you have been sentenced to life in Azkaban” Mr. Crouch finalized.
Back at Hogwarts, Minerva met in Albus’s office.

“Enter” he said when he heard her knock.

“Minerva, have a seat, I would like to ask you something very personal” he said.
“After all these years of knowing each other, and in light of recent events, we have grown a strong liking for each other. If it is alright with you, would you marry me” he asked.

“Yes”
