Aww. I agree with bestwishes4maggie there... I mean, seriously what the fuck! Her birth year had been set on 1925 for AGES and then suddenly it is changed to 1935... There go a lot of pieces with possible reasons as to why she only began to teach at 31. Now suddenly she began to teach at 21. Grr...
I find it sad to say that my ADMM muse is rather discouraged. I ship more than ADMM, even though ADMM will always remain one of the closest to my heart. Ever since the first movie seeing them together with little Harry I was entirely smitten and in fact thought they were a couple... (I had not read the books yet by then). I mean, his dead was the only time they actually saw her cry, no?
Even though the muse has wandered, I'm sure that, considering Minerva is supposed to retire in 2017, she's right now talking to Albus' portrait conversing about what another year will be like. And Albus will say that she'll do just fine as a Headmistress just like always... and that she should enjoy life as much as possible before joining him at King's Cross, where he'll wait for her...

That's the same fear I have too, even more so with these pottermore revelations seeming to discourage so many writers. I've always loved writing, but before ADMM I just wrote occassional intensely personal poems, and now all thanks to this wonderful ship I write regularly, and people actually seem to enjoy what I write, and that's so inspirational for me. And I've learned so much, new ways to write, and my imagination is always alive with ideas - it's such a big part of my life. I dread that one day no one but me will ship ADMM anymore, pottermore has increased that fear, because ADMM is almost the only thing I write, but I couldn't imagine continuing to write if no one was reading my stories. It's such a big part of my life, when I can writing ADMM is my priority, and I've tried to contemplate writing other ships but nothing inspires me like them. *Sighs* I've lost track of what I was trying to say, I think I was just trying to say I have the same fear too, but I really hope our ship will survive. Somehow it seems to me that JKR takes delight in trying to destroy this ship, she really seems to have it in for us. Or am I paranoid to think this ? And that just makes me want to fight harder to keep the ship alive. I'm still utterly convinced that JKR's original intent all those years ago was for Albus and Minerva to be secretly married, because there's so much evidence of it, and because I'm sure I read an very old interview once where she said some of the professors were married. Authors do change their minds, and I think she changed hers for whatever reason. Now if we just stole Severus' veritaserum we could get her to confess the truth.

Woah. Sylviadragon, you've done it again. You've taken the exact words out of my mouth. Perhaps we should chat. ;D lol. And by the way, if you're planning on shipping ADMM forever, at least you'll have me around to read your stories, because I'll be here too.

I think her marriage to that man wasn't really serious. I mean, she married him after learning about her young love's death so, to me, it's just a coup de tête. She wasn't in love with him, since she had refused many times before, she was just sad and thought it would made her feel better.
As for the story with the muggle man, it doesn't really count since she was probably not in love with Dumbledore at the time, he was more a mentor for her, seeing she was barely 18. I think the muggle's death and her "sudden" failed attempt at a marriage may have brought them even closer, do I make any sense?
Anyway, I still ship them, always will. ♥

MMADness reigns supreme!!!!
While I'm interested in getting into Pottermore nothing she says about Albus and Minerva will ever make me think they aren't together.

I myself have not read pottermore and I'm not sure that I will either.I agree with the thought that JK must have changed her mind at some point. I still stand by the fact that she was just trying to drum up publicity with her Dumbledore is Gay stunt. She doesn't care that Minerva is positively affronted that someone would accuse her husband of not loving her and loving a man no less.
there enough said.

PS. Malcolm McG? I think I've read this before. Haha, I recognized that too. It's the name of Minerva's father in Alchemine's fanfiction! So funny that it's actually her brother. Imagine what I thought when I saw it!

I have to say that all the things on this board have run through my mind. But the thing to hold on to through all of this is very simple:
We write fan FICTION. These works are only based on what we want to do with the characters, and only loosely based on a story. Why do you think people continue in even more insane ships than ours, and write infinite amounts of literature on these completely impossible ships. I think we will survive. At least, I will. I have several stories in the works, and all of them will continue unchanged. This might be more material to work with in the future, tho.

Well, you can agree with me or not, but I find everithing about Minerva's backstory nothing but a huge nonsense!!
First, all this revelations are killing fandom! It'so sad to see so much fics copying litterary pottermore without immagination at all.
Then, I find it clear that JKR doesn't know Minerva nor her own books. I couldn't find nothing of the wonderful strong carachter I fell in love since I was a child. She hasn't even the slightest clue how old is she and she keeps contradicting her own canon!
Let me explain: - Minerva can't have grown up with muggles. If she had, she would have known what sherbet lemons are! - the fact witches can't tell their own husband they have powers is anonsense. Gosh, they're part of their family! Why don't we separate muggle borns from their muggle family then?! If the law is so stupid, I'm starting to think Grindelwald wasn't that wrong! - the witch giving up powers for love is a terrible cliché! Period! - Since when Min had been in love with Elphistone? Why the hell she married him? Minerva is not the kind of woman that marries someone she doesn't actually love because she's lonely and her true love is dead! I mean, why should this change things? - I hate all this unknown carachters. At least OCs in fanfic have a personality, because they have a whole story to act in! Dougal and Elphistone are just names! - since when you can ask to teach at Hogwarts when they're not looking for ateacher? Which person would be so stupid to leave a job before knowing wether she'll get a new one or not? - she's too young! If she had just been 62 - for wisards is not so much - in 1997 Amicus Carrow wouldn't have called her "old besom".
Am I right? What do you think?
For me anything that isn't written in a book is optional canon. There's no need to use it!
MMADly yours, Charlotte

For the longest time, I boycotted Pottermore (I only went there two or three days ago, to see what I would get as a wand and in which House I'd get sorted into). However, I DID take a look at what was said on Minerva, and I felt like I would never write anything remotely linked to what JK said as background story (except October, 4 as birthday date). To me, Dumbles has never been gay, and I'm not about to change the fact that in my mind, AD and MM are mmadly in love with each other (bad pun, but I couldn't resist). Besides, "Elphinstone Urqhart"? I mean, even the name itself is ridiculous... And, really, not having any kind of love affaire/feelings/one night stands for the rest of you entire life?! let's get real, guys!
