Hi guys! So, I've had an idea for a couple more stories, but they're really short. They connect in a way though, if you really think about it, and it forms a story. So, I've decided to post the stories, which are all based on Christmas songs! (Thanks to my band teacher, I got the inspiration to write "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus".) Vote in the end for the story that you like the best, and I will probably write more stories that are similar, or even continue the story! Please forgive me if I had a lot of spelling errors; yes, I’m writing this up on a Word Document first, but I’m still in school, and still making a lot of mistakes.
All I Want For Christmas Is You
It was one of those things that I did as a child, writing Christmas letters to Santa, but that was just all make believe, right? Well, let me tell you this; I wrote a letter alright, but it took a toll to something that I hadn’t expected….
It was Christmas Eve, and it was snowing outside; little white snowflakes were falling to the ground, in flurries, and I sat in my armchair in my rooms, thinking. I had gotten all of the staff something for Christmas, and I busied myself by cleaning and tiding up my rooms, but something was missing, and I couldn’t figure out what it was. I conjured with my wand a flame in the fireplace, and I sighed as the dark room filled itself up with light, and comforting warmth filled the room. I was writing my Christmas list, and there was only one thing on it; but I can’t tell, because it’s a secret.
There was a knock at the door, and I stiffened. Who could that be? I listened anxiously for a voice perhaps, outside so that at least I could have an identification. I opened the door, my wand behind me, and I peeked outside. Even in the darkness, I could see a pair of twinkling blue eyes staring back intently at me.
“Hello Minerva,” Albus greeted, as he leaned upon the doorframe. “May I come in? There’s something I need to discuss with you.”
I looked back at him blankly for a second, but quickly pulled myself together. “Yes, of course you can come in,” I replied, welcoming him in my rooms.
He smiled gently at me, and as he passed me, I could smell the unforgettable evanescent scent of sherbet lemons and hot chocolate. His hair was auburn, and even in the firelight, I could see that he was wearing a snowy white shirt, and at the top, it was slightly open…..
No, I scolded myself, don’t even think about it. I looked away from him, but even then I could feel my face getting redder and redder and I could feel his strong gaze upon me.
“Minerva,” he inquired,” Are you alright,” he murmured, raising my face with a gentle hand to look up to him.
“Yes,” I said, but deep inside, I was still scolding myself. Minerva, pull yourself together, a small voice cried inside me. The heat from blushing was gone, but I could still feel the raging fire’s breath, raging still in the room. He sat in an armchair across from me, and I sat in the armchair that I was earlier occupying.
He eyed me for a minute, but then told me why he had come. “You see,” he started,” Tonight is Christmas Eve, so I have decided to host a party in my office for all of the staff. Now, I want all of the staff to go in their nightwear with them; we might be up for a while.” When I still had not responded, he also added,” Oh Minerva, will you please come? I know that you’ve been under a lot of stress lately, and I want everyone, especially you to take a break and have a little fun.”
He said it like as if it was all easy, and at the end of it, I could have sworn that I saw a smirk playing across his face, but after I blinked, it was gone. I thought to myself for a moment, and I was truly so deep in thought, that I didn’t notice that Albus had gotten out of his chair, and sat at the arm of my chair, and leaned closely to me. I didn’t even discover his presence until I felt gentle fingers tracing circles on my lower back, and got closer and closer to me until I felt his breath on my ear. “Oh please Minnie? I promise that we’ll have a lot of fun,” he said, his eyes twinkling madly.
I stared back at him, and replied exasperatedly, “Of course I’ll come! Are you happy now, you old coot?”
Albus immediately broke out into a big smile, and looked up. “Mistletoe,” he murmured, and I immediately too looked up. I distinctively didn’t recall hanging up mistletoe, but it was there. I gasped and looked at Albus, his eyes still twinkling madly. He leaned closer and closer to me, and kissed me.
It was gentle at first, and after a few seconds, I tried breaking the kiss, but Albus had already started to run his hands through my hair, taking out all of the pins. I was upset at him, but I had to admit, he was a good kisser. A purr rose in my throat, and Albus broke the kiss abruptly.
Nothing was said from either of us for a while, but Albus finally cleared his throat, and said softly,” When you come tonight, please don’t put up your hair; you look very beautiful right now without them.” Then he got up from the armrest, and started walking towards the door. As he walked through the doorway, he called,” See you tonight, Minerva.”
I nodded, almost too weak to even speak.
It was a quarter to 8, as I knocked on Albus’s door. And I really didn’t expect what I saw in Albus’s office. Sure, all of the other staff were there, and they were sitting on pillow cushion that matched their personality. There were only two pillows that weren’t taken. On one of the pillow was a little silver tabby kitten playing with a ball of yarn, and on the other was a phoenix flapping its wings. The phoenix pillow was right next to mine’s, and as I sat down, Albus sat down next to me, smiling. He now wore a different shirt; it was still snowy white, but it was carefully buttoned all the way to the top.
“Tonight, I promise you all that we’ll have a lot of fun,” Albus said, rubbing his hands together. And we really did have a lot of fun; in fact, we were playing games until 10:30.
Everyone was really worn out, but Albus announced that we had one more game. “Ok, so here’s how it works everyone,” he said. “I will give you all a piece of paper, and you will write down the one thing that you want the most for Christmas. Then, fold the paper up, and place it in the sorting hat,” Albus said, as he grabbed the sorting hat off of the shelf. “Then, each one of us will pick out a piece of paper, and will read it out loud if it isn’t too personal. The sorting hat will make sure that when you place your paper in, that you will not pick it up again. Now, without further ado, let’s play.”
As I wrote what I wanted for Christmas, I folded it in half, and placed it into the sorting hat. After everyone else placed theirs in the hat, everyone started to choose. My palms started to get sweaty as each person picked one. When I picked my card, I opened it up, and it distinctively said a good night’s sleep. I started to giggle, and as I read it out loud, everyone started to laugh.
“Yes, we sure can use a good night’s sleep,” Albus said, yawning. I was the first to read out loud, but I figured that I could tell who had my card; but everyone else’s was “private”. I began to worry. Who had my piece of paper? As each member say that the wish was too private, it was soon Albus’s turn.
“So, what does it say Albus,” Poppy asked.
“Um, it’s really private,”Albus replied, his eyes looking at the sheet of paper hungrily.
“Aw, come on Albus, give us a hint, then.”
“Ok. All I can say is, it’s extremely flattering, whoever this person is writing about,” he replied.
I blushed slightly, but no one saw it.
“Ok, everyone, off to bed with all of you,” Albus said, yawning. After all of the staff all filed out, Albus put a hand on my shoulder, and said,” Minerva, may I talk to you?”
I turned, and looked at him in the eye. “Yes,” I replied.
“There’s something that I want to ask you, Minerva,” Albus replied, pulling out something from his desk.
Albus came to me, and got on one knee. “Albus, what are you doing?” I started to panic, but I was excited.
He pulled out a beautiful diamond ring, and took my hand. “Minerva McGonagall. Will you be my forever beloved?”
“Yes!” I cried, leaping into his arms. I kissed him several times, and let Albus slip the diamond studded ring onto my finger. As he carried me into his bed, we kissed passionately, until it was 12:02.
“Merry Christmas love,” Albus said to me. “And might I ask, did you get what you wanted for Christmas?”
I nodded. “Yes, all I wanted for Christmas is you.”
