FanFic 100 Challenge Prompt: #086- Will Albus finally choose to let Minerva know how he feels about her, and will she feel the same way in return?
Albus watched as Minerva silently enjoyed her meal. He was thoroughly intrigued by the subtle way she moved her mouth as she ate, and he briefly mused how her lips would feel against his...
"Oh, honestly Albus! If you like her that much, why don't you just tell her?" came a sharp yet smooth female voice.
Albus, feeling his cheeks flush, turned to meet Rolanda Hooch's owl-like eyes.
"Pardon me?" he said in a false innocent tone.
"Don't give me that rubbish, Albus Dumbledore! You know as well as I do that everyone has been betting for years on when you and Minerva will wake up and realize you're perfect for each other. Even the house elves are in on the bets by now, I'm sure."
Perfect for each other? Is that what they thought? Albus fought a grin.
"So go tell her how you feel," Rolanda exhorted.
"I can't."
"And why not?" she asked.
"Minerva is my Deputy Headmistress," he said, as if the answer was obvious.
"She's also your best friend, and I bet she's afraid to say something for the same reasons you haven't."
Albus pondered upon this, wondering why the thought of him admitting his feelings for Minerva had always unnerved him. Perhaps it was simple; he was afraid of losing her friendship and feared her rejection.
"Go on!" Rolanda said.
"I don't think I should.."
"You have nothing to lose if you do."
He looked over at Minerva and watched her wipe the corners of her mouth.
"I have everything to lose," he said.
"No, you don't, but you will if you don't do something quick."
Minerva pushed her plate away and prepared to stand.
"Go on," Rolanda urged. "Kiss the girl!"
Albus took a deep breath and walked towards Minerva. She greeted him with a warm smile.
"Minerva, I-" he began, licking his lips nervously. "There is something I wish to tell you..."
Minerva placed a long, slender finger over his lips and leaned forward. He could feel her soft breath brush across his face.
"I already know," she said with smiling eyes.
She paused just before meeting her lips with his, but Albus had no objections. They instantly became lost in the passion of the moment, oblivious even to Rolanda's resounding cheers.
