A/N:: This is based roughly on a text message forward I received today.
FanFic 100 Challenge #:: 051- Water
The sun rays danced through the clouds overheard, though the promise of rain hung in the air. Even the sweet-smelling wind that blew delicately yet strongly against Minerva’s face and long, flowing hair whispered the coming of a summer shower. Minerva sighed contently as she admired the rippling reflection of the sky in the lake.
Something about her peaceful surroundings brought back a flood of memories and emotions to Minerva’s mind. She allowed her eyes to flutter shut as she recalled the happiest moments of her life. Indeed, there had been dark times in her past, but she had grown both stronger and wiser through those experiences. Of course, she had never truly been alone during difficult times. She had found a best friend, a confidant, a love amongst the ruins- Albus Dumbledore.
This year would mark the forty-fifth anniversary of her marriage to Albus, and they had always cherished every moment they shared together.
Minerva almost laughed at herself as she watched a tear of joy roll down from her cheek and drip into the water below. The sun had now descended further into the horizon, and the darkened rain clouds moved threateningly closer. Albus would soon be home from a meeting with the Minister of Magic, and she hoped he would arrive before the rain.
“May I join you?” a warm, familiar voice called from over her shoulder.
Minerva smiled to herself.
“Of course,” she replied without turning around.
Minerva moved closer as Albus placed a loving arm across her back. He kissed her tenderly on the temple.
“I love you,” he whispered into her ear.
A smile played at her lips once more.
“I love you too,” she said, turning to look deep into his eyes. “I dropped a tear in the lake for you today. The day you find it is the day I’ll stop loving you.”
They kissed briefly until Albus took Minerva’s hand and led her back to the castle as the clouds, never ones to break their promises, began to release raindrops on the land below.
