A/N:: Perhaps I should warn you, I haven’t written in a long time (too long, sadly..), so this is pretty bad. This is just senseless, pointless fluff, but don’t kill me, please! *hides* I’m hoping this will help “jump start” my muse back into action. If this fic was any shorter, I’d call it a drabble.
FanFic 100 Challenge #:: 075- Shade
The afternoon sun poured a golden glaze through the clear glass windows of the school, leaving a shimmering mirror effect to the castle floors. Silence seemed to radiate in the hall like a constant pulsing heartbeat. The brilliant tall witch scanned her eyes up and down the hallway. In this brief moment of solitude, she relaxed her rigid body and sighed as she slowly removed her hair from its tight bun. She knew no one could find her here unless she wanted them to; this hallway was still a secret passageway, and she was thankful for this.
A soft humming like the low buzz of a bumblebee broke the silence.
“I thought you’d be here,” Minerva smiled as she spoke aloud to what seemed to be no one.
“When have I ever let you down?” a voice spoke from the shadows.
Minerva absentmindedly brushed her wedding ring with her thumb, her green ember eyes brightening.
“Never”
Albus emerged at Minerva’s right, the light washing the darkness away from his face. He stretched an arm around his wife’s waist and placed a kiss on her temple.
“How was your day, my dear?”
Minerva grimaced and sighed deeply.
“Dreadful”
Albus chuckled as he ran his finger through her hair, sending a chill down her spine.
“And yours?” she asked.
“The usual”
Minerva nodded as she watched him place a lemon drop in his mouth. Albus smiled as he took Minerva’s hand and squeezed it lightly in compassion.
“I was wondering if you would like to play a game of chess with me before dinner, Minerva.”
“I’d love to,” she replied, leaning up to kiss him on the cheek.
Albus stretched his arm out to Minerva, and she took it into her own.
“Perhaps I’ll even get a chance to beat you for once,” Albus mused, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
Minerva laughed aloud and shook her head.
“Not a chance!”
