The Other Side
A/N: I’ve ranted and raved, I’ve been upset and quite pissed off and anyone on the boards knows how I feel about this lovely revelation. Well, I had a lot of time to think too, which is when this plotbunny was born. I was saving it for when I write my last bit of ADMM angst and canon but it’s just a silly little drabble, so I’m posting it now. It’s also unbetaed because it’s so short and was written for therapy.
Disclaimer: Not mine, because in my world Albus Dumbledore is both straight and alive. And happily married to Minerva.
Dedication and thanks: to everyone so far who has written a ‘Jo is wrong, Albus is with Minerva fic’ and to everyone who will yet write one, to everyone who sympathised and agreed with my very long rant and how bad this is, to every ADMM shipper out there who suffered this and is still shipping, and also to you if you’ve actually read this and not just skipped to the story .
“I bat for which side?” Albus asked in surprise, leaning over to where Minerva sat facing the computer screen, giggling slightly.
“The other side, dear,” she replied and Cassandra, sitting beside her, burst into laughter and fell from her chair as tears formed in the corners of her eyes.
“I bat for the other side? As in I’m…”
“Yes, Albus, as in you’re gay,” Minerva replied, amusement evident in her voice.
“But I’m not gay,” he responded blankly, his eyes scanning the news on Mugglenet.
This was all the more funny to Cassandra who only laughed harder, tears streaming down her cheeks as she pulled herself back to her seat.
“Behave, Cassie,” Minerva admonished her, “You should be supportive of your Grandfather, being outed quite so unceremoniously must be a traumatic experience.”
The two witches looked at each other, completely deadpanned before the corner of Minerva’s mouth twitched and they both dissolved into more laughter. Albus was still looking at the computer screen, a confused expression on his face.
“And,” he continued loudly over their laughter, “Neville is perfectly happy married to Luna not Hannah. And what’s this? Me? In love with Gellert? What on earth?!”
Minerva, having overcome her laughter, replied, “It’s just that Rowling woman again, dear, you know the one who said you were dead and that I didn’t love you despite fifty happy years of marriage, 4 children and 6 grandchildren.”
“Come on Granddad, Grandma,” Cassie said, slightly out of breath from laughing, “You came to visit me and my muggle computer so we could visit the ADMM boards. Let’s see how they’ve taken the news and see what kind of fanfiction they’ve responded with,”
“They always were the clever ones, those MMAD shippers. It’s good to see some people can see what really is between us,” Minerva said, leaning into Albus and kissing him lightly on the lips. Cassie was soon preoccupied reading the thread about the latest ‘revelation’ on the ADMM boards, shouting out random details with familiar shippers’ names and outrages and she failed to notice her Grandparents tuning out of her report.
Breaking another kiss Minerva shifted to whisper in Albus ear, a wicked twinkle in her eye, “And if you like my darling, later, you can prove to me that you’re very not gay.”
