Merry Christmas, Tabbyminerva! I hope you enjoy your gift!
love, Pinkie
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh” Albus said, carefully rubbing his stomach as he laid on the sofa in his room. “I think I ate too much...”
Minerva McGonagall, his Deputy and loving wife for many years only shook her head.
“Do we have to go through this every year, my dear?” she said, hardly looking up from her fascinating novel.
Albus sighed deeply and let out a sorrowful moan.
“Nobody orders you to eat that much goose and roast potatoes and cranberry sauce, Albus. But every year it seems as if you want to devour an entire troll's meal at Christmas Eve!” Minerva picked up her cup from the table and took a biscuit from the red and green tin.
Albus nearly gagged as he watched his wife.
“I know... I shouldn't eat so much, but it is all just so incredibly yummy.”
“Well, we cannot expect the elves to make a disgusting feast for the students that remain at Hogwarts, now do we?” Minerva smiled widely.
“Perhaps not...” Albus sighed again.
“Go to bed. Sleep well and tomorrow you will feel right as rain again. Plus there will be opening of presents!”
“Presents! That is true. Christmas morning would not be the same without them.” Slowly he rose from the sofa, trying not to make the movements too sudden.
“Minerva... Min... Darling...”
From afar Minerva could hear someone caling, but she was still very much asleep. She had been dreaming of kittens and wool and warm, snuggly naps on the sofa.
“Minerva... It is Christmas...”
Now Minerva could hear Albus' distinct voice.
“It cannot be morning yet...” she grumbled, her voice raspy from sleep yet.
“It is! It is six o' clock! Time to open our presents!” Albus was as excited as a young child.
“Go back to sleep Albus...” Minerva turned to her other side in hopes that she would be left alone. No such luck, however, as Albus sprinkled glitter all over her.
“C'mon my sweet, embrace the season and open your presents with me!”
It was Minerva's time to sigh now and so she did. She raised her head from the pillow and supported with her hand, her elbow making creases in the sheets.
“Why don't you get us a few presents from under the tree and we open them in bed?” Minerva said. At least that way she wouldn't have to leave her warm, comfortable little nest. Albus left the room quickly and returned soon, levitating about four presents. With care he dropped them on the bed and crawled back into bed, placing his ice-cold feet against his wife's calfs, which made her squeal.
“Here, open this one!” Albus handed Minerva a bulgy packet. “ For Professor McGonagall, from Hagrid” it read and Minerva smiled. Dear Hagrid. Such a loyal friend. Such a ind person. She ripped the paper away and found a hand-carved figurine of a tabby cat. Albus admired it before opening a parsel himself. 'For Professor Dumbledore, from Dobby” In it were bright yellow earmuffs. Albus put them on right away, which did not only made Dobby very happy (when he found out), but also Minerva, who had often warned Albus about getting cold ears after flooing in from the Ministry.
“Open my present!” Albus handed Minerva a small little packet. Swiftly, Minerva made the paper disapear wih her wand. A tiny box, made out of rosewood, laid on the duvet.
“ It is so beautiful, Albus!” Minerva said delighted.
“Aren't you going to open it?” he asked, smiling.
Minerva smiled back at him and opened the lid of the rosewood box. In it, on some white cottonwool, was a small, golden key.
“Thank you...” Minerva said, taking the key out of the box and staring at it. “What does it open?”
“You have opened my heart with this key and now the key is yours, as is my heart.”
Tears welled up in Minerva's eyes. “Open my gift...”
Albus picked up the other present on the bed and with a wave of his hand vanished the wrapping paper. In it were a pair of hand-knitted socks.
“Why, Minerva...” Albus chuckled.
“ I have worked on them all winter long. You once told me, that all you wanted to make you happy, was a pair of socks. And i really want to make you happy.” Minerva explained.
“Thank you, my darling...” Albus said and caught her in an embrace.
“ Merry Christmas.” he whispered in her ear.
“ Merry Christmas!” Minerva replied and they kissed as mistletoe appeared above their heads.
