I fouind this while going through some old folders on my comp and when I couldn't find it in here I realized I never posted it... why? I have no idea but here it is... Song is called 'I Can Love You like That' and it's by John Michael Montgomery
Minerva McGonagall sat in her chambers, looking out on the grey sky, at the drops of rain trailing down her window. She cried silently. Poppy Pomfrey had married Alastor Moody, Serena Sinistra had married Rick Callaway, an American man she had met on a vacation in the States and today Rolanda Hooch had married Severus Snape and now she, Minerva McGonagall, was the only one left unmarried of all in the Unseperable Four. They had been friends since their first year at Hogwarts and they had never parted ways.
But they had known that one day they’d be married and have less time for their girlfriends. And yet… through the marriages they had remained friends and their husbands had become friends. But now Minerva was the only one left unmarried. The seventh wheel. And she longed for someone to love her. Not just anyone. A special someone.
They read you Cinderella; you hoped it would come true.
That one day your Prince Charming would come rescue you.
You like romantic movies; you never will forget.
The way you felt when Romeo kissed Juliet.
All this time that you've been waiting;
You don't have to wait no more.
Fifteen year old Minerva McGonagall had been sent to visit her aunt and uncle. Dave McGonagall had chosen to live the life of a muggle when he met and fell in love with the vibrant beauty that was his wife.
It was the summer holidays and Minerva’s mother and father had gone to France with her brother and sister but Minerva had been there so many times now she really wasn’t that empressed anymore. She had learned all there was to learn and so she had been sent to the muggles to live for a month. She loved her aunt and uncle very much but she rarely got to see them. Her parents were welcome at any time at Hogwarts but as these people were muggles.
One night they took her to a great theather in London. They wanted her to see something. And Minerva was alomost crying when she came out. A tragic love-story. Romeo and Juliet. She would never forget the kiss shared, the last kiss. And the way Juliet looked as she woke up and found her love dead. Minerva would have cried if she wasn’t such a proud person.
Minerva sat in the big couch with her aunt and uncle late one night. Her aunt’s gentle voice filled the room as she read out loud the fairytale of Cinderella. Even at the age of 15 Minerva had never heard the tale and she was facinated by it.
‘Maybe some day my own prince will come and take me away’ she thought. Never had she given the chance of marrying a second thought, she had never dated anyone. And she had never missed it. But now… now she realized that true love happens… and that she really didn’t want to miss out on it.
That was the moment she had known that she did not want to be alone all her life. But she never started dating. Not really. Her so-called dates always turned into a friendly dinner. She didn’t know why but she seemed to be able to make lots of male friends. But she was not able to fall in love with any of them.
She returned to Hogwarts after being an Auror for many years. She wanted to teach and when Headmaster Dippet died and a certain Albus Dumbledore became Headmaster she was needed as Transfigurations Mistress. So she returned and met Albus Dumbledore. The man, not the Professor. Even when she was a student he had been nice to her but now he has joking with her and playing chess with her. He made her feel welcome. Over the years they became the best of friends, they told each other everything.
As Minerva sat by her window there was a knock on her door. She looked up, driven out of her trance. She shook her head slightly to get all of the confused thoughts out of her head. Then she walked to the door and opened it.
“Albus… Good evening,” she said, surprised to see Albus at her door this late.
“Minerva you’ve been crying!” he gently said. Minerva looked at the floor. She had forgotten about her tears.
“Come in, Albus,” she sighed. Albus went into her chambers and she followed him into her livingroom.
“Are you okay, Min? Is something wrong?”
“It’s nothing, Albus. I can cope,” she quietly said.
“Minerva, you can trust me, you know that, right? What ever you tell me will not leave this room unless you want it to.”
“I know, Albus, but it’s just very silly.”
“What is, Minerva?”
“It’s… it’s just this wedding!” Albus looked puzzled. Then he sunk into his thoughts. He frowned.
“The wedding? You were against it? Minerva… I hate to ask you this but… are you in love with Severus? Is that why?”
“Severus! Me?? In love with… Severus?! Albus! What do you think of me! No, I’m not against their wedding! I hope they’ll be very happy together! It’s just the fact that I am now the only one not married!” Her hands shot up to cover her mouth, but she knew that it was too late. Albus looked at her with an expression she had never, in their many years of friendship, seen.
“And you want to be married?”
“Not necessarily married but… Albus I want to know how it feels to be loved that much. I want to know how it feels to be in love with someone who will actually love you back. I want to know how it feels to be loved more than anything in the world. Is that selfish of me?”
“No, Minerva, it’s not. I understand you perfectly. But what you must understand, dearest, is that maybe you are loved like that,” Albus quietly said, thinking that he would indeed love her like that if she gave him permission.
I can love you like that. I would make you my world:
Move Heaven and Earth, if you were my girl.
I will give you my heart, be all that you need;
Show you you're everything that's precious to me.
If you give me a chance: I can love you like that.
“You must be kidding, Albus. If anyone loved me so much, then why am I still what I am? Old, alone and feeling so very blue.”
“Ah, but dearest, maybe the man is simply afraid you might not love him back. Maybe he is afraid you’ll reject him. Maybe I’m scared to lose the friendship we’ve shared for so many years now.” Minerva’s eyes widened as he mentioned himself.
“You, Albus?”
“Yes, Minerva. Me. I can love you like that. If you give me your permission I will do anything for you. I will love you forever no matter what you say or do. Give me a chance and I will love you like that, Minerva.” Minerva’s eyes teared up. Suddenly she didn’t see the man she had been friends with for the past many years but the man she had not realized she loved more than anything.
“Do you mean that, Albus?”
“I would never lie to you, I never make a promise I can’t keep. I will love you forever and for always if you give me the chance.”
I'd never make a promise I don't intend to keep.
So when I say forever, forever's what I mean.
I'm no Casanova, but I swear this much is true:
I'll be holding nothing back, when it comes to you.
You dream of love that's everlasting.
Well, baby, open up your eyes:
I can love you like that. I would make you my world:
Move Heaven and Earth, if you were my girl.
I will give you my heart, be all that you need;
Show you you're everything that's precious to me.
If you give me a chance: I can love you like that.
Minerva fell into the waiting arms of her employer, best friend and the man who loved her as she had always dreamt of.
“I love you, Minerva McGonagall,” he whispered into her hair.
“I love you too, Albus Dumbledore.”
“You are my entire world,” was gently said before he claimed her lips in a tender kiss.
You want tenderness;
I've got tenderness,
And I see through to the heart of you.
If you want a man who understands,
You don't have to look very far.
“I guess my love was right in front of me all the time.”
“I was always right here, love, and I always will be.”
I can love you; I can:
I can love you like that. I would make you my world:
Move Heaven and Earth, if you were my girl.
I will give you my heart, be all that you need;
Show you you're everything that's precious to me.
THE END!!
