Silently, the young woman walked through the wood. There was not one sound, not
even the crunch of a dead leaf or the snap of a twig under her feet. It was absurd...no one could walk
through this place as silently as this. And yet...
It was obvious something was strange about her. Her ebony hair moved around
her shoulders as she glided past trees and through the patches of moonlight slanting between the
dying branches.
Her deep green eyes glittered like stars. And she did not make a sound, for the one
person she was searching for had been taken in here. Albus, Albus, she chanted in her mind. Albus,
please be alive.
She came upon the one place in this wood that was definitely *not* silent.
Minerva McGonagall watched in horror as their wands flashed, Grindlewald and Albus, dueling, as she
hid behind a tree.
Then Grindelwald spoke a spell she did not know. A flash of blue light enveloped
the two men, and a golden glow radiated from Albus Dumbledore. The next minute, a tabby cat
launched herself at Grindlewald, scratching at his eyes and forcing him to drop his wand.
The blue light faded, and Albus hissed, "Minerva, get out of the way!" Minerva, he
had said. Not Miss McGonagall. Minerva. Min-er-va. It was music to her.
The cat sprang away from Grindlewald, lying prone on the ground. In an instant
Grindlewald was on his feet, and had recovered his wand. Albus sent a flash of white light at the Dark
wizard, and the life drained from his body.
The tabby resumed the form of nineteen-year-old Minerva, and she looked up at her former Professor. "He's gone." Albus nodded.
Minerva smiled, and hugged Albus. "You did it, Albus." He had told Minerva to call him Albus, and she did so quite willingly. Albus...Albus Dumbledore. She knew she loved him, though he was so much older.
She was surprised when he hugged her back. "Yes, Minerva." Her green eyes
stared into his blue ones hopefully. There it was again, that "Minerva". Like music. She sighed happily.
Albus closed the distance between them and kissed her.
