He is so completely clueless! For Minerva though, it must be breaking her heart. At least Albus has enough clues to eventually figure out she thinks he is playing a joke on her.

Time for another chapter! I had thought I would get more of a reaction to Albus' actions in the previous chapter. Anyway, here is the next piece of the store and as always thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming.
The dance lesson had actually gotten of to a decent start considering Minerva felt as if her heart had been ripped from her chest. How could he be so heartless, so uncaring, and so very un-Albus? He was usually such a gentleman and yet he had just felt her up in her classroom. There was also the way he’d been touching her all day and all of those comments to consider. Still, at some points that day it felt like they were together – a couple – talking and having the fleating moments of romantic contact that go alone with such intimacy. One tear made its way down her cheek. “Seriously, Professor McGonagall. Your Gryffindor pride is legendary, but is dancing with a Slytherin really enough to move you to tears?”
Minerva opened her eyes and stared blankly into the face of Severus Snape who rolled his eyes. “Professor, why are you crying” Hermione asked. “It’s just that I … I …” “She has very bad allergies, Miss Granger. They make her eyes water. I was merely joking with Professor McGonagall. I must say that your Gryffindors are quite protective of their Head of House, Professor.” Minerva’s stunned look was met by Severus’ hidden reassurance which the students could not see. After getting the students paired off, Severus and Minerva were left alone to watch the students dance.
Severus Snape broke the comfortable silence between them. “I am never one to meddle with the lives of others, but I must make an exception this time. What has that old coot done to you? I have never seen you like this. Are you alright,” Severus asked out of genuine concern as he briefly put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her as she stared at the floor fighting back her emotions. “It’s just the joke he’s playing on me. I know it shouldn’t bother me, but… it seems he’s decided it would be fun to become very flirtatious with me. He even went so far as to grab my bottom." Snape raised his eyebrow. This was very unlike the headmaster. "I don’t understand it, Severus, what have I done to deserve such cruel treatment. He knows what I’ve been through in the past. Why would he want to break my heart?” Her emerald eyes looked so hurt and tears were beginning to form in them.
Severus was starting to realize what Albus saw in her. He couldn’t help but pity her, “Heartbreak can only occur if there is affection there to begin with and if there is you must tell him, Minerva. Tell him soon – today if possible. Now I must go and get ready for this evening.” “This evening? No, the party!” Minerva had almost forgotten the party that evening. That was one of Albus’ more practical ideas. This party was to be a sort of dance rehearsal for the ball, not to mention it would be a good way to end a “day of fun” like Joke Day. Everyone was to give one rose to each person they wanted to apologize to. After they dismissed the students, Severus left Minerva with one last piece of advice before he and Minerva left to get ready – “Watch the way he looks at you and then trust your heart.”

I liked how Severus protected her from the students. I personally think that in canon he is a heartless git, but you still wrote him in a believable way. Well done.

I have been anxious to post this update. It happens to be my favorite. Those of you who like Fawkes will enjoy it as well. Thank you for all of your feedback. I really appriciate it. Enjoy.
Albus sat in his office. His only company was that of his phoenix, Fawkes who was giving him quite an accusatory look. “But what could I have done wrong?” he thought out loud. After hearing an account of the incident again, Fawkes screechedand squaked in an attempt to give his master what-for. It was obvious to him was Albus had done and even he was shocked. “Well, I guess you could say that I was more than a little forward with her in her classroom.” Albus got another look from the bird as he screeched in protest. “What have you done now, Albus? Maybe I can be of help. If I remember correctly, you used to seek out my advice once upon a time.” The portrait of Armando Dippit asked. He related the days events to the image of his former boss and good friend. Armando and all of the other former headmasters and headmistresses burst into laughter. Albus did too as he realized how ridiculous it all sounded. They were all laughing so much that they failed to notice the figure standing in the doorway. “You grabbed Minerva’s bottom?! Whatever possessed you? You’re lucky she didn’t hex you into the next century! ‘…But if I may be so bold…’ – you certainly have got to update your lines, Albus, or you’ll be single forever. ” Dippet laughed. A soft voice cut through his laughter.
“Albus, I came to give this to you.” Minerva walked to the middle of the room and stood there in front of Albus holding out a red rose. Albus was so stunned by her presence and her appearance that he couldn’t move. She wore a deep red silk gown which matched the rose and was just as fitted as her inner robes from earlier that day, but the gown had cap sleeves and a skirt with a slit up the right side all the way to her mid thigh and the v-neckline showed a good bit of her cleavage. There was very delicate black and gold designs alone the hem and neckline. She had left her hair down and put on a bit of makeup – smoky eye makeup and red lipstick which also matched her dress. She had also chosen to wear contact lenses for the first time in what seemed like ages. This was the first time Albus had seen Minerva without her trademark spectacles and he liked what he saw.
“I’ll go. I’m sorry.” As Minerva turned to leave, Peeves appeared and covered the floor of Albus’ office with ice. Albus crossed to her side quickly to try to keep Minerva frome falling. His plan failed miserably and both he and Minerva immediately fell very hard. Albus was able to turn his body enough to land with Minerva on top of him in order to break her fall. “Peeves, return my office to its former state and apologize to Professor McGonagall.” Albus growled. In an instant the ice was gone and so was Peeves, but not before had splashed Minerva and Albus with water yelling “Cool off!” Albus couldn’t help but admire her and his hands began to slide up and down her sides. He noticed that she didn’t seem to uncomfortable as she examining the condition of the rose in her hand. “Are you alright, my dear? I will be speaking to Peeves tomorrow and…” This was the first time he had fully taken in the sight before him. The slit in her dress had allowed it to fall away from her legs and he could easily see down the top of her dress. She was squirming and that was having a big effect on Albus.
He hurriedly helped her up and asked her again if she was ok. “You always look radiant in silk, Minerva,” he said as he stood back to get a look at her. She was so embarrassed she could cry. Since she had no desire to do that, she handed him the rose and left without a word before he had a chance to tell her anything. “You blew it,” Armando said, “but at least your hands didn’t do much roaming about.” The portraits began to snicker. Fawkes cooed his agreement, flew down from his perch, and dropped a rose in Albus’ lap. “Go and set things right with her,” Armando said. Albus smiled. As he left, Armando had one more piece of advice for him. “Keep your hands to yourself.”

Another week, another update. I'm exausted and it is very short but I hope you like it anyway. Sorry if it drags. I'm not very good at this. Anyway, enjoy. I promise you another longer one tomorrow.
Minerva had gone back to her room and took a moment to collect herself before she dried off, fixed her make-up, brushed her long black hair so that it would glitter in the candlelight, and left for the dinner and party. And that is were she was reviewing the days events in her head. As she entered the Great Hall, many students commented on her appearance. “You look lovely, Professor.” “That’s a beautiful gown, Professor.” She smiled and thanked them all. her gaze met that of Albus and she felt the familiar shiver run up her spine. Severus had been right – the Headmaster did seem to have an extra gleam in his eye and a bigger smile when he saw her, but she would not allow herself to hope that it may be due to any feelings he may have for her. That was impossible after all. She would never be good enough for him. When she reached the head table she walked over and, without a statement made to Albus Dumbledore, took her seat.
SQUISH!
Minerva froze as she immediately felt the ice cold water which soaked through the seat of her gown. She had a look of shock on her face that could only be described as priceless – her eyes wide and her mouth open slightly. Albus had all he could do not to take her and kiss her at that moment. Peeves’ laughter could be heard ringing through the hall as she slowly stood and picked up the wet sponge that he had placed on her chair just before she sat on it. To her surprise no one laughed at her when she turned and they saw the wet spot on the back of her gown. She blushed fiercely out of embarrassment as the two tears she had failed to hold back made their way slowly down her face. She turned to leave, but Albus stopped her. He looked deep into her eyes as he reached up to dry her tears. He said nothing as he reached behind her and cast a drying charm on her gown not losing her eye contact. He vanished the sponge and then cast another charm on the chair before he motioned for her to sit. He then started the feast.

I had promised you this a few days ago, I've been simply exausted. Anyway here's the next chapter and I hope you like it. Thank you for the feed back. It is appriciated as always.
They ate in silence. Every so often Minerva would feel Albus looking at her and she would blush a little. The only incident was when Albus was talking to Hagrid and reached for a dinner roll. As he did so, his hand brushed against Minerva's breast. She jumped in her chair and couldn't look at him as he apologized. The whole room began to laugh, but none were more amused than Severus Snape and Rolanda Hooch. The Headmaster and his deputy sat not able to looked at each other, both redfaced and looking as if they were still students themselves.
Then the feasting ended and the party began. Albus vanished the long dining tables and replaced them with smaller round tables which lined the walls. Minerva was getting ready to take her usual place off on the side and away from the dancing when she felt a hand on her arm. “We wanted to know if you’d dance with us, Professor.” She turned and saw a large group of her Gryffindor boys there to ask her for a dance. “Yes, I promise each of you a dance.” She was about to take Ronald Weasley’s hand when she heard someone behind her speak. His voice sent shivers through her. “May I please have the honor of the first dance, Professor?” “Yes you may.” She smiled slightly as Albus took her by the hand and lead her to the dance floor. Minerva’s grace, beauty, and elegance enchanted him as they danced. Albus didn't realize that he was bringing her closer to him. "Albus," whispered Minerva, "aren't we a little too close?" Albus looked down at Minerva and knew that it was now or never... and then the song ended and the mood was broken. When they stopped moving he kissed first her hand and then, much to the surprise of Minerva and the rest of those in the room, pulled her closer and kissed her cheek. “You dance beautifully, Professor,” he said. “You are a wonderful partner, Headmaster” was her reply as her cheeks grew rosy and she stared at the floor. She was suprised that she found herself wondering if he was a wonderful partner in other areas - life, love, and marriage namely. She tried, but couldn't remove these thoughts from her mind.
One by one the boys danced with their professor. Out of all of them Ron Weasley was the most nervous. Minerva could sense this as she danced with him. “What’s wrong, Mr Weasley?” she asked forcing him to look at her. “It’s just really embarrassing that’s all. It’s weird.” “What is?” she questioned, “Dancing with me?” “It’s not just that. I mean it hard enough to dance with you when you’re in regular robes because you’re a teacher and I have to put my hand on your waist, but with you dressed like that…I’m sorry professor, but it just makes it harder when I have to worry about where to look, and where to step, and is my hand still on your waist. It’s all very stressful, you know” Minerva laughed and Ron turned as red as his hair. “I’m going to get detention aren’t I?” “I’ll take that as a very odd way of saying I look nice. You have nothing to fear, I won’t be giving you detention…today.” She smiled warmly. “Well, I’m not the only one who thinks you look nice. The Headmaster hasn’t stopped staring at you all evening. Either that or my dancing is worse than I thought.” “Your dancing is fine,” Minerva blushed at the very idea as she turned to see if Ron was right. From across the room she could see Albus looking intently in her direction. He hadn’t noticed she was looking at him though; however he did figure it out when she turned her entire body to face him. She wondered what he had been so intrigued by.
Professor Flitwick had noticed the odd expression on the Headmaster's face as well. "A fine evening, isn't it, Headmaster?" Flitwick asked as he approached Albus. "Hmm? Oh, yes it is a fine evening, Professor." Albus answered, obviously distracted. The Charms professor followed the Headmaster's gaze and smiled when he realized who it was who had him so captivated. "She certainly is a lovely women and one of the most caring," Flitwick said as he watched Minerva who was now attempting to dance with Neville Longbottom. "He keeps sliding his hand down her back," Albus chuckled "One of these times he's going to let it slip too far and ... " The two men burst out laughing when Neville's hand slipped to Minerva's bottom and they both jumped. They watched Neville stammer out an apology and Minerva give him forgivness, exasperated though it was.
The party was coming to an end after much dancing and laughter. Minerva had been dancing all night and she was pleased with the results of her dance lessons. Only Neville Longbottom had made a major error – he kept losing his posture which had lead to quite an uncomfortable experience for them both. Now there was only one dance left. Albus made his way to Minerva and placed his hand on the small of her back. “Would you be so kind as to grant me your last dance of the evening, my dear?” She nodded and took his hand. When they got onto the dance floor he held her much tighter than before. “Albus, we’re too close. This is much to close. You’re the Headmaster of this school and I’m your Deputy Headmistress; rumors will start.”
Her body was so soft and warm and her breath was tickling his neck. He looked into her eyes and this time he was not able to remain entirely in control. He leaned down and kissed her very lightly and quickly on the lips. As he ended the kiss, he smiled and let his hands caress her. That look of shock which he found so lovely returned as she looked at him in a state of complete confusion. He leaded closer and whispered "I love you, Minerva." She stopped dancing and just stood there stunned, with a million emotions running through her. Her insecurity eventually won over the rest. “You said…you said that no more jokes were to be played. Why Albus…why would you do this?” She backed away from him and disappeared. Very few people saw the tabby cat running for the door.

Albus just isn't very good at this sort of thing is he? I hope Min gets rid of her insecurities soon, and Albus manages to do something right. ^^ Update soon!
