I just really didn't like how this bit was turning out so I had to start from the bottom up... again and again and again. I hope you enjoy it and I will have one or two more short additions soon.
Albus looked for Minerva as he walked quickly to his quarters. He knew he needed to talk to her, but he also knew that she'd need time to calm down. He remembered seeing some scars on Severus' forearm. When he was asked about their origins, Severus had said that he had "made some innapropriate comments concerning a certian feline." Apparently he had heard some students talking to their Transfiguration professor about her new robes one April Fool's Day. She had seemed very flattered so, of course, he had to say something. She had dropped something and as she bent over to pick it up he had mentioned quite loudly that the reason for her new garments was because she had been "filling out her skirts a bit more than than usual." She'd straightened up very slowly, mumbled something in Gailic, and transfigured into her animagius form. Severus tried to apologize but she wasn't ready to hear it. She bit and scratched until he promised to leave her alone for a week and to apologize to th students who had heard what he had said.
She remained a cat for most of the day and Severus said that he never saw her wear that set of robes again. He said they were a lovely silver gray silk which accented her graceful movements beautifully. They were a bit more fitted than her usual robes and also had a scoop neckline which revealed a very little bit of cleavage. She must have looked radiant. Rolanda Hooch had hypothesized that the change in her friend's attire was to a party being held for Albus that evening. After all of Severus' taunting, she hadn't gone to the party and had been very aloof for a few days afterwards. Albus wished she had come to him, but she seemed timid every time it was brought up and she remained that way no matter how much he complimented her. She became even more shy whenever he said anything having to do with her appearance.
His train of thought was interrupted by the firey entrance of his phoenix Fawkes carrying a bouquet of black magic roses - Minerva's favorite. He undoubtably want to hear how his friend's night had gone. After hearing the account of the night's events, Fawkes squaked and began furiously pecking Albus' head. "Alright! Alright! I'll go speak with her now. There. Are you happy now? She and I need to sort this whole mess out and sooner is probably better than later anyway," he said to his very angry bird as it dropped the roses into his hands and they both began heading toward Minerva's chambers.

Yes! An update! I have anxiously been waiting for a new post since I reached the last line of the chapter before this. This chapter made me smile... A small fragment of me pitied Severus, but the majority of me thought "go Min!" for scratching him! It was also sad because Minerva felt so insecure. Hopefully Albus will make everything feel better next chapter This is fabulously written and I can't wait for the next part. Update soon!

I am writing a very important paper which may decide when I graduate university at the moment, but needed a break. Thanks for the feedback and enjoy.
Minerva was completely at a loss as she lay on her bed in her black silk robe and matching undergarments after a quick shower. She hadn't truly stopped crying since she left the dance. She knew she needed to speak with Albus, but how could she when she had absolutely no idea what to say to him. She certainly couldn't tell him how she felt. How would she ever find the correct words to convey the depth and strength of her love without sounding cliche?
At the same time she wanted to ask him why he had done all of the things which had lead them to this point. Why had he been so flirtatious? It certainly wasn't in his nature to be so "hands on." Tears ran down her face as she remembered the look in his eyes, the sound of his voice, and the way his touch sent a surge of excitement through her entire being.
Yet in could not be true. She would not even let that the thought cross her mind. It still lingered in the very depths of her mind. She had been bothered by it more than usual. She had even gone so far as to mention the whole of the days events and her feelings to Fawkes when he dropped by earlier. After hearing what she had to say, he left without even taking the Ginger Newt she offered him.
So now she was alone, and the tears came faster as she began to dwell on that fact. They slid slowly down her porcelain cheeks. She drifted into slumber, her dreams filled with thoughts of the man whom she loved and was yet unable to speak to about such things.

Minerva should talk to Poppy or something. Then Poppy can say "Open your eyes Minerva! He loves you!" She is as clueless as Albus!
Nice update. Minerva's feelings came across really well.

My paper complete and my graduation next May assured, give you another update. It's another appearance by Fawkes. He is one of my favorite characters. I hope you like it and please tell me what you think of his actions thus far.
Albus stood in front of the door to Minerva's private chambers. After delivering the password he walked quietly through her darkened sitting room. All was silent and the moonlight revealed an open door at the far end of the room. "She must be asleep. I shouldn't wake her," Albus said turning to his feathered companion who had followed him from the hall. Fawkes flew ahead to check and came back quietly singing a beautiful melody. "We ought to go," Albus said as he turned to leave, "We're intruding. Let her rest." The stubborn bird would not let his friend get away that easily. He tugged at his sleeve and pecked at his back and slowly moved Albus toward the door in spite of his protests. A soft sigh caught Albus' attention and his glace was met by one of the most beautiful image he had ever beheld.“Magnificent,” Albus said aloud as he opened the door further and admired the sleeping woman inside. Fawkes settled in on the back of a chair. He had the feeling this would be a while.
Minerva lay on her back on top of the covers wearing only a black dressing gown and underwear. The moonlight shown on her face making the not yet dried tears by her eyes sparkle like diamonds. She had been crying herself to sleep just as he had expected. Her hair was down and spread messily beneath her head. Her dressing gown was not closed well, giving Albus a wonderful look at her breasts and legs. He was mesmerized by her and was only brought back to reality when she shivered and rolled onto her side. The dressing gown opened even more and it now uncovered almost everything from her waist down. Albus smiled. “You certainly do have beautiful legs, Minerva McGonagall,” he said as he took off his outer robe and laid it over his sleeping love.
He tucked the edges of it beneath her and let his hands linger on her back, legs, and side for as long as he could allow before he began to feel like a pervert taking advantage of this lovely woman's vulnerability. He wasn't feeling her up, but it felt wrong to him to be touching her this way without her permission. After all, wasn't that a large part of what had gotten them into this mess in the first place. After placing a final kiss on her lips, Albus turned to leave.

Sorry I wasn't quicker about this. Here we have the entrance of a voice of reason - you guessed it - Fawkes.
Fawkes was at his wits end as he watched Albus Dumbledore step quietly from his deputy's bedroom. He had not said he loved her. He had not apologized for his earlier actions. He had not done anything worth while as far as his phoenix was concerned and Fawkes was going to take matters into his own hands - or rather claws.
Fawkes appeared once more into the bedroom after making Albus think he was right behind him as he left her chambers. He landed on the bed and began to lightly nip Minerva's ear. "Oh Albus," she murmured. The bird took this as a sign that she felt the same way for Albus as he did for her. That was wonderful, but no less disgusting to the bird. Shaking off this feeling he moved to the side of her neck. "Oh, Albus, no." she said slightly louder and rolled over onto her stomach nearly landing on Fawkes.
Now this had gone from mildly nauseating to downright hazardous. Fawkes began hoping Albus would properly appreciate what he was going through. He was considering just how many sherbet lemons and back rubs this would add up to when he got an idea. He hopped onto Minerva's back and began walking on it. He had sharp claws, but Albus' thick outer robe insured that Minerva wouldn't feel them. He thought a back rub might wake her, forgetting that cats will fall asleep to such things. "Mmmm... that feels wonderful," she murmured as she drifted further into sleep. He was interrupted by the arrival of Albus in the doorway.
"Fawkes! Stop that! Get away from her and let her sleep! I'll speak to her tomorrow just get off of her before I come in there and get you," Albus whispered, thanking Merlin that Minerva was such a sound sleeper. Fawkes, meanwhile, was insulted. He had calmed Minerva so she wouldn't hex Albus on sight. He had brought Albus here. He had already reasoned with the portraits not to gossip about these two for fear that it would keep them away from each other. He had convinced Rolanda and Severus to help with this plan, including Severus, with the aid of an invisibility cloak, unbuttoning Minerva's blouse and unclasping her skirt that morning to set the plan in motion. He had listened to Albus go on about this woman for over two years. He had done all of this for his friend and now this man was yelling at him - unacceptable. If Albus wanted a problem, Fawkes was prepared to give it to him.
As Albus continued to hiss at him, Fawkes kicked Albus' outer robe off of Minerva's bottom. "Fawkes, don't you dare hurt her." Albus whispered stepping into the room. This was one more insult to add the the growing list and this bird had had enough. Just as Albus was at her bedside, Fawkes lifted one sharp claw and pressed it hard against Minerva's soft bottom.

Here's a cute fluffy short bit to keep you all happy for a bit. Sorry about the length. I assure you The Fic DOES NOT End Here!
The silence of the night was broken by a scream. Minerva had only felt a pain like this once before - when she'd sat on the tack Lucius Malfoy put on her chair on her first day teaching at Hogwarts. She'd gone running to Albus then. Now she whimpered a bit at her memory and leaped up... right into Albus' arms. Fawkes took wing and kicked Albus' back with all his might. His plan worked and Albus fell on top of Minerva on the bed. Fawkes landed on Albus' back and after a few moments of what sounded like yelling, they were alone. Fawkes had taken up his original position on the chair in the sitting room.
For a while, neither one could bring themselves to move. Albus was in a state of pure bliss and Minerva was allowing herself these few moments to dream. She only started to squirm when Albus tightened his arms around her. Then, too tired to fight her feelings or think clearly, she made a big decision - if he wanted to play this game, she would call his bluff. She would catch him in his lie sooner or later and then it would be over. Sighing, she wrapped her arms around him and snuggled deeper into his embrace.
Albus was in heaven. He held his love close and kissed her gently on the top of her head. "I love you," he whispered as he felt her arms around him. She pulled back and looked at him confused and then she smiled at him the way she smiled in all of his dreams and he could not help himself. He kissed her lightly on the lips and then again and again each time allowing himself to show her more and more of the passion he felt for her.
Minerva was completely confused and had she been a little more awake and not as set on her method of shedding light on his deception, she would have gotten up and hexed him to high heaven. As it was, she was too drowsy to protest. Neither of them knew exactly when they fell asleep, but there they were - finally asleep in each others' arms.
Fawkes took a fight through and made sure to toss the vial marked "Sleeping Powder" in the waist basket in the room. He picked up the roses Albus had discarded in the doorway long ago and placed them on Minerva's dresser. He also helped himself to the sherbet lemons in the pocket of Albus' outer robe before leaving. He didn't want to be around when the sleeping couple awoke the next morning and began to put the events of this evening together.
