ok I'm pretty open, I'll usually give any ship a chance at least once. like I generally think the idea of MM/Harry to be just wrong, but theres a fic on ff.net thats actually really good and is that one. I don't like Harry slash because we know he's straight, but other than that Im ok with slash. I think it would be really fun to write a completly off he wall ship, like Hermione/Dumbledore, just to see if I could make it work.

That is not completely off the wall- someone has already done that. Basically Hermione travelled back in time because of an accident with a Time Turner and met young! Dumbledore at Hogwarts. The ending was a bit awkward, Hermione having kissed young!Dumbledore about ten seconds before she met the old version of her own time. Anyway, if you want to write a strange ship and have a LiveJournal account, look at 10k drabbles. The idea is that a drabble gets written for every single pairing possible in Harry Potter, and all by different people. The Giant Squid pairings are going quickly.

well thats what I mean. It's a pretty strange one, and took a time turner to make work. I think doing something like that would be fun. I once read one that centered around who amongst the female staff would be the one to releive Firenze's...err, tension...it was interesting. Giant suid ships...now that would be fun

I still can't get into the Snape/Hermione thing...I try and try to understand and to read SSHG fanfiction; even the well written stuff just weirds me out. I just can't do it.

Hmm ships I hate... Any slash or femslash (though I admit I am enjoying 'Time to Heal' on ff.net - its very well written and actually plausible). Flitwick and Hagrid would have to up there (*shudders*) but I loathe, loathe, loathe Molly Weasley and MM - just no, no, NO!! *takes several deep and calming breaths* And I feel I should be hurt about the anti McGonagall/Harry here but...I'm not. lol. I actually completely understand but for the fics I was writing it worked. (I did change the ages though( Minniequill

I've read some decent slash, of various pairings, but MW/MM makes no sense at all. Molly should only be with Arthur and vice versa.

yeah I'm pretty open about slash, but MM/MW just doesn't make any sense, lsash or not...it's just weird
oh and by the by, miniequill your HP/MM fics are the only ones I've found that I can read, so well done there

Cheers! I was very apprehensive when I wrote them but it just kind of...happened. I don't tend to plan fics though sometimes I'll start a story and know exactly how it will end (eg. Ruins - it HAS to end soon, its KILLING me - oh! If anyone has ideas PLEASE tell me) so my HPMM stories just happened. From the Depths of Despair for example was meant to be friendship and then evolved. But hey I didn't gross too many people out! And as for 'Here Where I Stand at the Turning of the Years' (say that ten times fast) - Harry's gone back in time so he's actually older! ha! And I just LOATHE MM/MW - I know I said it but I'm just reinforcing that.

yeah, I like the idea of Harry being her teacher for a change, it's cool. oh is that name from Les Mis too? I know a bunch of the chapter titles are, and this one seems familiar but I can't place it

Yeah the Title is too. It's from the song 'Who am I?'

Teacher student fics are generally not my cup of tea. Having said that I am enjoying Here Where I Stand at the Turning of the Years. Probably because Harry is older it just doesn't seem so wrong. Minniquill I don't think I would have enjoyed Ruins so much if you hadn't made Harry those few years older, so thanks. (I am wracking my brains to think of some ideas, I think it is my favourite fic ever).

I don't totally despise slash/femslash but I think some pairings just don't work - like MW/MM , SS/HP or Bellatrix/Hermione (yeah, I came across that one). But one of the worst ship in my opinion is Snape/Aunt Petunia - I mean, these never know each othe in the books so it makes this ship just wrong...
Oh, and I don't like Voldemort/Minerva because I once read one where she still loved him despite him having turned evil...that's just sounds unbelievable to me
*Sorry to all the shippers out there*

Out of curiosity, and I'm not attacking anyone, but why do people hate slash/femslash? I can see why if the character is straight already, but why? I don't mind it (I used to be a Remus/Sirius shipper) and I've read some good bits and pieces of both here and there.
MW/MM - WTF?

I don't mind it, even when the characters are straight in canon as long as it's well written. my problm is with bad/non beta-ed stories, but thats another story all together

I don't have a problem with slash/femslash as such..(except Snape and students..sorry Snape fans just not for me it seems too predatory). It's just that most of it is just not very well written.imho..My theory is that most slash is written by women who just don't understand what they're writing about. I have read a few good Remus/Sirius fics in the past and recently some Minerva/Hooch...I think I would give most pairings a chance at least..As long as they were well written and plausable. Just my 2 pence worth.

I don't mind slash or femslash. It seems like sometimes people just throw people together though, but that happens in stories with straight couples as well. I have read a lot of RL/SB and of course Poppy and Pomona stories. I love Pomona Sprout!

I love Sprout too...she is seriously under represented in fanfic.. I have only read fics where she is a secondary caracter, paired with Poppy. I would like to see her paired with Flitwick..the cute wizardlike one from PS/SS not the ugly darkhaired goblinlike Flitwick from the later films..What was that all about??? It's the same actor why did they change him???

yeah...I didn't even realize who it was for awhile. I love Flitwick, he's just so cute! I think some people hate slash/femslash because they generally don't approve of homosexuality, but I know too many gay/lesbians to have any problems with it. I don't like many student/teacher ships, okay any, esp ones with Snape. I mean really, he needs a real woman! I think Sprout/Poppy is cute, but Snape/Aunt Petunia, WTF!!! BTW...this post makes my post count, 666. duh, duh, duhn!

That's okay *sniff sniff* - seeing as I'm WRITING one of those I should be so much more offended than I am. lol. Which is not at all.
(I am wracking my brains to think of some ideas, I think it is my favourite fic ever).
Are you serious! Wow thank you SO much. It's one of my better written fics but I'm just so glad you actually like it. And yes, I would have had far too much of a squick moment if Harry wasn't older so I'm with you all the way there!
