snape/dumbledore makes me shudder, eww
I have to say that SSMM can actually work sometimes. It's got that romeo and Juliet appeal, but it's not as creepy as Hermione/Snape, nor as wrong as Draco/anyone...Draco's jut an ass, and thats the end of it

I really feel sorry for Draco, in my opinion I don't think he actually wants to do all this. He's just trying to protect his family, and in the baathroom scene where Harry just slashed him open with that spell made me feel so sad. While Draco CAN be an ass, it was the way he was taught to be.

yes, but Lucius is sexy ;D Anyway...I don't care much for Draco. And I don't ship any of the students, I'm okay with the cannon ships, but I don't put much thought into them because I like the adult characters better.

I concur with the both of you! To me it feels like because they are all so young (well, not anymore) that it might be nothing more than a crush or a deep infatuation and not 'love'.

I use SSMM as crack pairings mostly. I did one semi-serious one 'Regrets' but haven't finished it yet...if I ever do. But I quite like it. It just depends on the skill of the writer (and no i'm not saying I'M skillful I saying others are - I'm not that pompous) and SSAD makes me want to vomit.

Subjugation? I saw that yesterday night! I was thinking about reading it, but was too tired... Is it really that scary? Well it depends on your point of view. But personally I find pregant!hermaphrodite!victim!Snape and rapist!Dumbledore who dies in the cruellest way possible pretty damned scary. And yeah, I prefer to ship the older generation. Even though I AM one, hormonal teenagers bore me slightly.

ok, will remember to stay away from that fic...in any case, the older characters are more interesting, partially the reason the books have sold millions, but i admit the kids' drama is old news

I also don't understand a need to ship the cats (personally). Why do they get a ship? The cats...you mean like Crookshanks and Mrs Norris? How strange. Aw... don't be so closed-minded. I ship Crookshanks/Norris... and Hedwig/Errol And Tibbles/Tufty... *waves little Animagship flag from Animagship rowboat* Okay, I was kinda kidding about the last one... but still, I ship the other two. I'm crazy, though, so it's probably just me.

I don't have anti-ships per say. But I only read fictions with Minerva in them which REALLY narrows in down a fair bit. lol. Then again I've paired her with nearly every male character in the books so...yeah. (And no, I don't make people vomit. lol) I'm broad-minded.

Just had to add my two cents *grin*: Generally-- SSHG -- if she's older, I can see it (I mean AD was MM teacher's, too) -- it depends how it's done -- I've read a couple good fics where they became friends (or almost friends) when HG was a student and then got together later, and that works, too. Slash -- some of it's okay, it depends who the characters are and if there's any plot -- NOOOO to HP/SS, though -- even with HP as an adult, it seems to impossible to me -- that said, I've actually read a couple of rare Snape-mentors-Harry fics (non-slash) that were pretty good, but they dealt with the canon antagonism between the two and didn't just suddenly present them as being all buddy-buddy. Femme-slash -- can't read it; well, I could, and if it's well-done, it wouldn't squick me, but it just doesn't do anything for me at all *yawn* -- HOWEVER, no MM/HG -- that just weirds me out, especially if HG is still a student. *shudder* Random BDSM perpetrated by teachers on students -- don't get me started on this. Anything with Evil!Dumbledore. As I said recently in a PM to somebody somewhere -- there are plenty of HP canon characters who are already Evil! or potentially Evil! -- why take one of the best, most generous-spirited characters in all of fiction and make him some kind of bizarre, selfish monster? Or worse -- I've seen ones where he was a Voldie equivalent, or a rapist --brrrr! (I was reading a multi-chaptered story that I was kind of enjoying until a random Evil!Dumbledore appearance popped in -- it wasn't even well-integrated into the story -- and I just don't think I can continue reading the rest of the story. The writer made him seem childish, egotistical, and selfish. Flawed and human Dumbledore is fine -- but for heaven's sake, this very wise man is over 150 years old in this fanfic and he's suddenly acting like a petty, cruel, egotistical child. . . . well, I could go on forever here, but I won't! ) For ships that squick me completely: MM/HG (as I said, it just makes me go "ick"), MM/TR-Voldie (where it's an actual ship) *shudder*, Umbridge/any main canon character (unless it's parody or humor featuring someone like Filch!), SSRL 99% of the time, SSSB 99.5% of the time, AD/any student underage (especially Rapist!Albus --WTF???), LMHG 95% of the time, AD/Sprout (never seen it, wouldn't want to! LOL!), Moody-slash fic . . . . And ANY parent-child incest (or PD/HP) -- it's just too disturbing for words. Those are my little dislikes and preferences -- I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there who don't have the same taste, though! -MMADfan

I have written a Pomona/Poppy fic that I think is actually one of my better pieces, but honestly, that's the only femslash from the books that makes any sense to me (except for Amelia Bones/Emmeline Vance, but that's just my own little pet theory). You mentioned that you hate SSRL...(Snupin), have you read Revert to Type by LinZE? It makes Snupin seem realistic, plus there is a hint of ADMM. And yes, Evil!Dumbledore is just wrong! And completely noncanon...

MMADfan, I have to agree with most everything you said, but let me take a moment to laugh hysterically at this... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love Sprout, she is my favorite character, but her and Albus? OH MY GOODNESS!!! The fact that you even thought of that... lol If you do ever run across such a story, will you please send it my way? That I must read. lol

I read a similar fic once. Kinda hated it. Came close to flaming it, actually, but managed to keep my cool. Barely. But I agree, 100%. The Bumblebee is love. Do not screw around with love. Otherwise, the multiverse will spin into chaos and the chaos will result in the ninjas defeating the pirates, the FSM getting eaten in a cheap American pseudo-Italian restaurant, and Luxembourg taking over Paparelli, instead of visa-versa. Therefore, Evil!Dumbledore results in massive destruction, and is probably the real cause of global warming anyway, as well as the dwindling number of pirates, of course.

Ducks are pretty sweet. ^_^ You may abbreviate, or call me Fran. Thanks, Fran! I like ducks, too. On an entirely other note, I went to ffnet a little bit ago to find a fic that was mentioned waaaaaay earlier in this thread -- greatest love something-or-other -- MM/Giant Squid -- I laughed till there were tears in my eyes. I think I am overtired. In fact, I know I am overtired. But it was the perfect state to read that story in: Punchy. ;D I really was going to try to write tonight . . . but my brain feels like it filled with cotton wool. But to get back on track, it's interesting what different people have named as their "anti-ship." It's particularly interesting when the anti-ship is a popular one or, at least, plausible (e.g., SSHG in the first instance, ADPoppy in the second). Personally, I don't do ADPoppy, and don't think I would read a story in which that was the focus, but if there's incidental ADPP, it doesn't bother me. (I used "ADPP" first, but then I realised that Peter Pettigrew has the same initials -- and talk about an anti-ship -- YUCK!) -MMAD (off to bed and some much needed sleep -- and hoping I do not dream of the Giant Squid!)
